Advanced Google Apps and Add-Ons

Presented by: Kristen Waring and Terri Gustafson

In this presentation, you will have the opportunity to explore some of the “extras” that are available for users of Google Apps for Education Suite. Add-ons enable educators to extend and automate functionality of the core tools which are available in the Google Apps for Education Suite. You will learn how to find and add a variety of useful add-ons that can enhance your school's Google experience. 


Best Practices in Distance Learning

Presented by: Cash Clifton

In this session, attendees will join Cash Clifton in discussing best practices in Distance Learning.  This is a preview for the upcoming NM DELT Distance Learning Certification that is scheduled to be launched On-Demand in Google Classroom via @nmdelt.org.  Topics of discussion will include an overview of the Quality Matters Rubric (www.qualitymatters.org), course management, and Netiquette.


PLATO Use in the Blended Mathematics Classroom

Presented by: Jane Faith Schauermann

This presentation will explore various ways to utilize Edmentum PLATO in a blended mathematics classroom to increase student engagement and progress. We will look at how to use PLATO assignments and Accucess to differentiate student learning, ways to integrate PLATO in a synchronous environment and increase asynchronous participation. Please be aware that this is a model for implementation of PLATO, not an introduction to the program itself. Some experience in PLATO is beneficial.

 

College & Career Readiness

Presented by: Cash Clifton and Don Dutton

This presentation will explore the many resources available that can help any program or classroom comply with the Readiness Standards and prepare students for their future.  Using some of the technology that we all live with in at our jobs, homes and at school, the presenters will demonstrate how to use online resources to better prepare lesson plans or meet the needs of a classroom.

 

Come “Hangout” with Google!

Presented by: Jamie Bearden and Terri Gustafson

This interactive session will guide you through how to use Google Hangouts, a free online meeting tool. Participants will learn how to schedule a hangout, how to invite participants to the hangout, how to broadcast a hangout, and how to distribute videotaped hangouts. Participants will need to have or create a Gmail account prior to the session, and the use of personal electronics (tablets, smartphones, etc.) are encouraged!

In this session we will explore strategies and resources for ABE educators interested in learning how to combine face to face learning with innovative technology.


ESL Resources for the Classroom: Software & Online Materials

Presented by: Montserrat Oyanedel Tolmo & Josan Perales

In this interactive session, attendees will be able to choose, evaluate and discuss the diverse software and programs available to implement in their classroom. Topics will include the review of Online FREE software, how to use PLATO in an ESL classroom, criteria to evaluate software and tools, and discussion topics.


Google Classroom Basics

Presented by: Kristen Waring

This hands-on workshop is designed to guide the beginning Google User in the creation of a Google Classroom and Courses. We will cover items such as requesting an email address within the NMDELT.ORG domain, creating your Google Classroom with one or more courses, creating and reviewing assignments and inviting/adding students to your course. Computers will be available but you are always welcome to bring your own devices.


Introducing Google Apps for Education

Google Apps for Education is a FREE learning management system which includes a suite of productivity tools for classroom collaboration. Whether you are new to Google Apps or just want to know a little bit more, this workshop is for you. We will review some of the core tools and apps included in this suite such as Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Classroom, Sites and Drive. We will also explore ways in which these tools can be used in a Distance Learning Environment. This will be a hands-on workshop. Computers will be available but you are welcome to bring your own devices.


Spanish HSE Online Resources

In this interactive session, attendees will be able to select and implement useful FREE online Spanish HSE resources to put into practice in their classrooms. Topics will include review of Spanish HSE websites and blogs that offer information in diverse areas, such as Mathematics, Language Arts, Social Studies and Science, websites to introduce computers usage and technology to adults, and discussion topics.

En esta sesión interactiva, los participantes podrán seleccionar e implementar recursos de HSE en español gratis para poner en práctica en sus clases. Los temas que serán incluidos son una revisión de páginas webs y blogs en Español que ofrecen información en diversas áreas como Matemáticas, Lenguaje, Estudios Sociales y Ciencias, páginas web con cursos introductorios para uso de computadores y tecnología enfocados a adultos y temas para discutir.

 

Student Engagement in Distance Learning

In this session, attendees will join Cash Clifton in reviewing student engagement techniques discussed in the ongoing NM DELT Student Engagement Webinars.  Topics of discussion will include core conditions for learners to grow, the Transtheoretical model of change, an introduction to motivation theory, and an overview of free software and mobile applications.
